Given the importance of the university’s presence and the enhancement of its standing within international ranking systems—and the role this plays in achieving scientific authority—this metric has been incorporated by the Deputy for Research and Technology at the Ministry of Health into the annual evaluation of the country’s universities of medical sciences. Since some of the indicators required by these ranking systems relate to the performance of other university divisions, units, and departments—and because achieving these objectives necessitates effective inter-departmental collaboration and participation—the university’s "International Ranking Systems Working Group" has been established by the Deputy for Research and Technology, with formal appointments issued to all members.
